Our Baton Rouge Veterinarian
Offers Virtually All Pet Services
At our Baton Rouge animal clinic we are pleased to offer our clients far more than the average animal clinic, animal emergency facility, or animal hospital could. We have pet services as wide-ranging as pet boarding and basic preventive techniques like pet microchip implantation to anterior cruciate ligament repair with the TPLO method. Pets will see either Dr. Sam Haase, Dr. Frederic Michaelson, or Dr. Chris Hayes. In addition to these veterinarians, we have an eastern pet medicine expert on staff who is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and can prescribe herbal and all-natural healing methods. Our staff orthopedic surgeon may be called in to perform complicated surgeries. Regardless of the pet injury or health need, our services can cover it.
Services From Routine Veterinary Checkups
To Animal Emergency Care
The pets who come here to Jefferson Animal Hospital may arrive at our offices for a wide range of pet wellness reasons. We offer pet boarding stays so that when you need to be out of town, you'll have the peace of mind that your pet is being treated just like one of our own. Your pet may also come in for any of our pet wellness services: Wellness is not just about treating injury or illness when it happens, but is also about good preventive care.

Treatments such as pet acupuncture are a good method of pain relief and of enhancing total wellness. Another of the easy, yet essential, services we offer is the pet microchip. A microchip is embedded just under the pet's skin in a virtually painless procedure. If your pet is ever lost, stolen, or runs away, that microchip can be used to identify your pet and bring him home to you. We offer everything from general check-up exams to pet urgent care in case your animal was in an accident or is injured. Our animal emergency hospital and animal clinic can handle any needs for your pet.
Our on-site laboratory has state of the art machines that allow us to do tests of all kinds. We can check blood counts, screen for heartworms, do intestinal parasite screens, do electrolyte panels and more right here at the animal hospital. When highly technical tests, such as endocrine testing and histopathology, need to be performed, we collect the test sample here and use specialized local labs to obtain results in a timely manner.
We are highly experienced with pet surgery, and routinely perform soft tissue surgeries including ovariohysterectomies, neuters, tumor removals, cystotomies, exploratory surgery, and more. We handle orthopedic surgeries such as fracture surgery regularly as well. We have a dedicated surgery suite that has top-quality surgical implements that allow us to do cautery and suction, much like the surgical tools you will find in a human hospital.
Our staff certified veterinary acupuncturist, Dr. Larry McCaskill, provides eastern medicine solutions for those situations when pet acupuncture can improve quality of life or when surgery may be needed but is not financially feasible. Dr. McCaskill uses acupuncture techniques to treat a variety of health issues such as musculoskeletal issues, neurological problems, gastrointestinal disorders, and chronic pain conditions.
We offer an on-site pharmacy, so the majority of prescriptions that your pet needs can be filled right here before leaving our Baton Rouge animal clinic. Our veterinarian can also arrange for refills, which you can request online or by phoning our office during daily business hours.
Our Baton Rouge animal emergency clinic offers a full range of pet urgent care and general care services to ensure that your pet gets ideal care while he or she is here with us. As we like to say here at the clinic, we are the place "For Pets That Don't Get Treated Like Animals"!
